Raspberry Yogurt for Baby: Smooth Mashed Berry Bowl
Mash 1/3 US cup raspberries until smooth, then stir in 1 US cup plain whole-milk yogurt, with optional chia seeds. Includes label checks and spoon serving tips.

This raspberry yogurt starts with 1/3 US cup raspberries mashed until smooth. You then stir in 1 US cup plain whole-milk yogurt. Chia seeds (1 tsp) are optional. Jump to the raspberry yogurt recipe for the ingredients and steps.
Choose a plain, full-fat yogurt
Use plain, whole-milk (full-fat), pasteurized yogurt with no added sugar. The NHS advises plain, full-fat, pasteurized dairy with no added sugar for a baby's first foods. The CDC includes yogurt without added sugars among the dairy foods babies can have before 12 months. In this recipe, the raspberries provide the fruit flavor.
Check the labels
Yogurt contains milk, which the FDA lists among the major food allergens. Read the label on the yogurt you buy. Confirm that it is plain, pasteurized and has no added sugar, and check its allergen information. If you add chia seeds, check that package too. Our guide to reading baby food labels explains what to look for on ingredient and allergen lists.
Mash first, then stir
Mash the raspberries until smooth before the yogurt goes in. The Yummy Bites app shows mashed raspberries for babies at the starting stage, and this recipe uses the same preparation.
The chia seeds are optional, and you can leave them out. If you use the 1 tsp, let the mixture sit for a few minutes so the seeds can soften. The recipe does not give an exact resting time.
Serving it child-led
Spoon a portion into a bowl. Your child can eat it with their fingers. You can also preload a spoon and hand it over so your child can grasp it and bring it to their own mouth. Our guide to preloading a spoon for self-feeding walks through that technique.
The app gives about 1/3 US cup in your baby's bowl as an example portion, with the rest for an adult. That number is an example, not a target. Your child decides how much to eat.
The CDC notes that starting solids at about 6 months depends on a baby's developmental readiness. Age alone doesn't tell you whether a food fits your child, and this recipe is not a feeding plan for any individual baby.
About this recipe
The 1-minute prep time is an estimate from the Yummy Bites app. It does not include the optional chia rest, so no total time is listed. This recipe is adapted from the Yummy Bites app and checked against public guidance from the FDA, CDC and NHS. Yummy Bites has not kitchen-tested or clinically reviewed it. The photo is an AI-generated illustration, not a photo of this recipe, and it does not show the recipe's actual texture. For more ideas, browse the Yummy Bites recipe collection.
